My Christmas Vacation - Day 1

Wow! The last several months have flown by! New job, more school, still working in Salt Lake, writing lesson plans, doing homework, correcting homework, etc., etc.! All this culminates to this point which is my two weeks of Christmas vacation. I get to do all the things that I never seem to have a lot of time to do -- like scrub my house from top to bottom. Not exciting, but things I have to do never the less. It is just nice not to have homework looming over my head. Today, I got to babysit my niece Sarah. She's two. She's hilarious. She loves to dance, shimmying her shoulders back and forth. She loves to sing and will sing to anything. She's happy and very particular, in a great comical way. I love her. She makes ME happy. A very fun way to spend a day. We went shopping and finished up all of the things that I had left to do. Shopping in the morning during the week is a whole new experience. Not as many people making the outing less stressful. I just need t...

Time.

What I don't have a lot of. Major life changes have taken place in the last several months. First and foremost - I am now teaching at Syracuse High. I was offered a job on the spot to teach special ed math the day after school had already started back in August. It all happened pretty fast that I didn't really think about it, I just accepted. I went to work on a Tuesday, let them know I had just accepted a teaching job and was teaching school on Friday. So...... I am now teaching special ed math, going to to school on Monday and Wednesday nights to get a special ed endorsement so I can legally TEACH special ed, working at the Willey on Tuesday and Thursday nights, doing homework, driving A LOT, and trying to make sure friends and family don't think I've fallen off the face of the earth. It's all good. Difficult and tiring but, good. So much for thinking my life would get less busy and easier once I graduated. I wanted to do other things. I thought this was the...

Oh, What to Do in the Summertime....

Three weeks left. I have three weeks to finish writing my senior thesis and the end has officially come. Life has been full these past three months. Of course I "graduated." I had the whole ceremony and stuff. Once I finish my thesis then I'll be official. It was really an amazing day. Such a feeling of accomplishment it felt a little surreal in many ways. Trying to cram in almost four years of school into two years will make you a a little crazy but, I survived.....and I never thought I would really make it. All of my sisters came, which meant so much that they were there to support me. There have been so many family functions and things that I have missed over the past two years because I had class or had to do my home work. I'm a lucky girl to have such a great relationship with my siblings. Here we all are: I have been looking for jobs and stuff. There is nothing out there. The couple leads I did have did not go in my favor. It begs the question - why ...

Happy Birthday Ben!

What a great day. It was way rainy but, I enjoyed it anyway. Shannon and I went to Costco early to pick up Ben's birthday cake with Ben, Sarah and Caleb in tow. That's all he had wanted all week long is for it to be his birthday so we could eat cake. Truly a child after my heart. The candles proved a little more difficult....... This week is graduation. Pictures of me in a cheesy cap and gown will be coming. Oh, what a glorious day it will be. Until then......let us eat cake. :)

BRIGHT Light at the End of the Tunnel

At least today, there were signs of Spring. Just the way Easter should be. Life is becoming a little less hectic, a little more normal.....whatever normal is. I've only got a couple weeks left of school and graduation approaching on May 1. It seems a little surreal at this point, that I'm actually, finally graduating from college. Neither of my parents graduated from college. None of my grandparents went to college either. To have that piece of paper that will allow me to do what I want to do - teach - is a pretty big deal. I've worked hard and am proud of what I have accomplished. With the piece of paper comes change. A new job, a new place to live, a new life schedule. I'm glad I have my constants.....my friends, my sisters and my little people.....and not so little people, anymore. It was a great weekend with family. Life is good and full of blessings. It doesn't always unfold the way you think it will, would or should but, I guess I'm not the one in ...

Checking In

Well, the germ infestation that is your local high school has done it to me. I'm sick. I feel like I've been hit by a train. I have slept 26 hours since Thursday afternoon. I guess I didn't use enough hand sanitizer. Besides this, things are going well. I love teaching and the students are really great. It is difficult to get everything done that I need to. I'm a bit Type A so my lesson preparation seems to take forever. I can't be teaching US History and be giving out false information. I did end up dropping a class - the thought of writing my senior thesis along with everything else was a bit much. I'll have to do it in the summer but, it is better to keep my sanity now - it will be worth the tuition I will have to pay to take that class. And the sunflower....well, it's to add a little sunshine to the dreary winter. I'm sick of the cold and the gray skies and thick air. I'm ready for Spring. Happy February to all.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all. The past three weeks have flown by. I had a wonderful break. I was able to get together with my best friend from High School whom I hadn't seen in years. I had a wonderful Christmas and am grateful for my sisters for making sure I'm not forgotten. My Aunt and Uncle stopped on their way home to Canada so we were able to visit with their family and see my cousin who came home from his mission last month. Fun was had by all, it just went by WAY too fast. It begins. My semester from hell. I will be busy from today until April 29th. I'm tired already. I'm really not cut out for 15 hour days but, I guess I gotta do what I gotta do. It will all be worth it when I'm holding that diploma in my hand. Here is what I have ahead of me: 11 weeks of Student Teaching at Fremont High. My senior seminar class which will have me writing a 35 page research paper. One Geography Class - easy but boring. (Tuesday nights) One History Class - the History of ...
